Bishop Weldon M. Johnson is the founder and pastor of New Life Christian Church and Ministries, Inc. formerly known as New Life AME Zion Church in Cambridge, Maryland. He was born on February 14, 1945 to the late Thomas and Helen Johnson of Princess Anne, Maryland. More importantly, he was reborn on November 24, 1966 at a revival conducted by Rev. Missoura Grey from Detroit, Michigan.

He received his post secondary education at Bowie State University, Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He served as an educator in Worcester County, Maryland school systems from 1967 until 2004. Bishop Johnson is married to Jacqueline Robinson Johnson and they are the proud parents of three children: Deborah, Darryus and Margie.

Before pastoring New Life Church, he was a member of Mt. Hope AME Zion Church where he served as one of the church musicians from 1958 to 1990, directed five choirs, conducted the Saturday Night prayer service and served as a director of the youth department.

On the first Sunday in January 1990, New Life AME Zion Church in Cambridge, MD was founded. The church is presently known as New Life Christian Church and Ministries, Inc. Bishop Johnson is thankful that the Lord saved him when He did and desires to see the lost come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
